Technology Meets Nature by StockCake
VAS has been fielding questions and concerns regarding our use of AI in the last year. To that end, we developed a policy statement regarding AI now available on our website.
Here is a quick summary:
The Visual Art Society of Bryan-College Station is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization that utilizes generative AI purposefully to assist with creating promotional materials like show posters and flyer verbiage, protecting our members’ limited time so they can focus on our mission and community service, like the Aggieland Art Trail. In our exhibitions, we embrace digital innovation through a specific “AI-Mediated Art” category, which mandates that generative AI represent only a portion of the original, non-plagiarized imagery and requires artists to disclose their creative process for juror review. Because we are a community of creators who are deeply inspired by the natural world, we are also acutely aware of the environmental footprint of the data centers required to power these technologies, and we pledge to balance our operational efficiency with a commitment to using these tools thoughtfully and strictly for necessary support.
