SUMMARY:The Business of Art
DESCRIPTION:You have art you want to sell. Lots of it. Now what? There is more to running your own art business than creating art. Attend our February meeting and hear esteemed artist Charles Wallis share his expertise on the business of art. \nCharles Wallis is a master painter who currently is creating modern impressionist art. He is a graduate of the Baylor University fine art program. After college he opened a graphic design studio beginning his career as a professional artist. His paintings reflect mastery of his craft and versatility in a variety of styles and media. He paints in a variety of styles including traditional realistic\, as well as impressionistic\, abstract and non objective. His works have shown in the TVAA Gallery\, Dallas; Cultivate 7Twelve\, Waco;  Adobe Western Art\, Ft. Worth; Kissing Tree Vineyards Tasting Room\, Eddy;  and The Frame Gallery\, Bryan TX.\n\nARTISTS STATEMENT:  The essence of all art is to have pleasure in giving pleasure to others. My art is the expression of my spirit to the spirit of others that connect with it.  I seek to create a memory\, a wish\, a fantasy or moment of joy or peace in the soul of the viewer.  I pursue Ideas\, color combinations or images that attract my attention in the abstract;  or as an impression; and some paintings are just for the fun of presenting something in an unusual style.

SUMMARY:General Member Meeting Followed by "Capturing a Moment" with June Russell
DESCRIPTION:This is our annual General Member meeting to vote on proposed slate of new officers for the board of directors. It is important to attend to learn more about our new board and current information about VAS. \nOur May meeting features photographer\, June Russell. As a nature photographer\, June uses her chosen medium as a way to share what she experiences when out in nature.  “By remaining true to the colors and forms I find in nature\, I represent the almost ineffable beauty that surrounds me. A photographer captures a moment so you’re always looking for something special.” \n \nJune hasbeen a fine art photographer for over twenty-five years and has had 5 solo exhibitions and been in numerous group shows. Russell has made presentations to art groups in Texas and Colorado and her work is included in collections around the country. The majority of her work is inspired by nature and often focuses on making abstract images from very close-up photography. June is also creating a totally different body of work based on light patterns and called Visible Frequencies. She is currently serving on the board of directors for Women in the Visual and Literary Arts (WIVLA) for the fifth time. \nOur meeting begins with a 30 minute social time followed by the presentation. The public is invited! \n  \nNo admission fee \n11:30am-Noon: social time \nNoon-1:00pm: presentation \n  \n
