Abstract Journey 1 & 2: A PaintingWorkshop with Sue Bishop

Workshop “Abstract Journey” with artist Sue Bishop.

Both sessions will be held at Degallery, 930 N. Rosemary Dr., Bryan TX

Part 1 – February 5, 2023 10am-4pm: Participants will be introduced to designing and creating abstract acrylic and mixed media paintings. Registration deadline is January 25, 2023.

Part 2 – March 25, 2023 10am-4pm: Participants will build on their knowledge of abstract design and will create abstract acrylic and mixed media paintings. First workshop is not essential to attend. Registration deadline is March 18, 2023.

Supplies – some provided and some you must bring with you

Included in the workshop price, the items listed here are provided for you:

  • Substrate…one sheet of Strathmore Aquarius II paper that is sealed with Matte medium and taped
  • Notebook with information from the class
  • Oil pastels
  • Stamps
  • Stencils
  • Collage paper
  • Mark making tools

Participants should plan to bring the following:

  • Matte medium
  • Water container
  • Brushes of your choice…I use 1”, ½” flat brushes and a small round brush
  • Roll of paper towels
  • Cheap box of Kleenex
  • Scissors
  • White acrylic or gesso…small amount
  • Black acrylic or gesso…small amount
  • Your choice of a limited palette of acrylics
  • Optional…collage paper
    • mark making tools
    • stamps
    • stencils
    • small hard rubber brayer

Cancellation Policy:

Because seats are limited and supplies are purchased in advance, in order to receive a full refund, cancellation notice must be given at least 1 week (7 days) prior to the start of the workshop. Cancellations made less than 7 days prior to the start of the workshop will result in a full forfeiture of registration cost. 

About The Instructor:

Sue Bishop pursued formal art training at East Texas State University where she received her Bachelor of Science in Education and Art. After graduation, she taught in the public school system for many years. Over the years, Sue has participated in many gallery, group, and juried shows. Numerous awards have been received including signature membership to the Texas Watercolor Society and an award of excellence in the Manhattan Arts International Competition. A one-person museum show has been added to her credits. Presently, Sue is conducting workshops throughout the state and teaching art in Georgetown.
